Blue Shoes
Some weeks ago she told me she wanted some blue shoes, I found myself saying "Do you need blue shoes", she said "No i don't need them, i just want them".
So my first thought is the difference between "want" and "need", we all want things, a new car, a new suit, a better salary, but do we actually need them? Is wanting and getting them actually going to make us happy? Is having them in your life going to make you more content, happy and able to achieve what you want.
If you can, hand on heart, honestly say "Yes" then you don't want it, you need it and by needing it you will make every effort to get it - get it because you will cherish it, look after it and value it.
This brings me round to love, life and friendship, do we want to be loved or need to be loved, if you need to be loved then go out and find it, don't be afraid of the effort to find somebody who loves you back, loves you so hard that the seconds you're apart seem like hours and the hours you're together seem like seconds, but my advice to you here is make sure they need to be loved too, because if they just want to be loved then one day they will stop making the effort.
The same is true with life, (I know we all want to live), but do you want to live going through everyday at 100 miles an hour, not taking a second to stop, look and enjoy it, or do you need to live, taking every opportunity to travel, to meet people, to savour the moments and being able to say I have no regrets - if you need to live make the effort to live, don't watch the moment pass, but again my advice is find somebody that needs to live also, as the journey will be so much more enjoyable.
It all comes down to the effort you put in, you see effort is what makes you stop and think if you want it, need it or are happy to make do with what you have. When you want something you will apply some effort to get it, when you need it you will apply a lot of effort to get it, effort and determination, but when you no longer apply any effort then - you will make do, you will make do with what you have.
I guess what this ponder is about taking a moment to pause and think, do I want it, do I need it or am I just going to make do.
For me - I need it, I need to feel loved, I need to live life and I need to have friends, so I will not make do, I will put in all the effort to get it.
